Located in the centre of the new town of Ghadames, the 4-star hotel Dar Ghadames is reminiscent of the Berber style with traditional architecture found throughout the property. It is just one of a handful of traditionally styled hotels in Libya.
The 64 rooms and four suites are located on two floors, around an internal courtyard. Each room is tastefully furnished and decorated using a mix of traditional and modern styles. The tapestries and textiles are typical of the Berber culture and local artisans make the wicker furniture. Each room has a veranda or patio area and the suites also feature an additional Arabian style sitting area with rugs and cushions.
Many of the hotel's public areas overlook the central garden, which is filled with native plants, cacti and palm trees, and many of the features, particularly the arched corridors and palm-wood roof above reception, lend to the feeling of walking through a Ghadames laneway. The cafeteria has been furnished with hand-made table and chairs and the restaurant serves a selection of local and international dishes.
