Take a ferry ride across the Plate river to Colonia in Uruguay. Explore with an afternoon walking tour and a maté tasting session. Overnight stay at Charco. (B)
Transfer by road to Montevideo. Add an optional visit en route to a traditional hacienda or enjoy a delicious lunch and wine tasting at the Bouza winery. Stay 2 nights at Alma Historica in the heart of the old city. (B)
Morning tour of Montevideo. Included is a fascinating visit to the studio of a drum maker and percussionist, famous within the Afro-Uruguayan Candombe music community. (B)
