Standard Private Tour in brief

Days 1-2: Fly to Lima

Fly to Lima with British Airways. Stay 2 nights and take a city tour to discover the colonial and modern highlights of the capital city. (N) (B)

Day 3: Fly to Jaen

From Lima, fly north to Jaén. Drive to Chachapoyas, a colonial town surrounded by swathes of high-altitude cloud forests. The Chachapoya civilisation had a culture that fiercely rivalled the Incas. Stay for 2 nights. (N)

Day 4: Kuelap

Travel to Kuelap fortress and explore one of the largest ancient sites of the Americas, situated on a mountain ridge. (B, L)

Days 5-6: Karajia - Gocta Falls

Visit the mysterious sarcophagi of Karajia, an ancient funerary site of the Chachapoyas. Continue to one of the highest waterfalls in the world, Gocta falls, and stay at a nearby lodge for 2 nights. The lodges enjoy spectacular views of the falls and, until recently, were unknown outside the local area. Take a hike to the base of the falls and relax in serene surroundings. (B, L, D)

Day 7: Chiclayo

Take a full-day drive towards the coast to Chiclayo and visit one of the excellent museums, such as the Museum of the Royal Tombs of Sipán. Overnight stay. (B)

Days 8-9: Trujillo

Continue to Trujillo, visiting the mystical El Brujo pyramid complex and the Cao Museum en route. Stay 2 nights in Trujillo and explore the Sun and Moon pyramids and the adobe city of Chan Chan. (B)

Days 10-11: Fly to Cuzco - Sacred Valley

Fly to Cuzco and transfer to the Sacred Valley with an optional stop at Chinchero en route. Stay 2 nights at a hotel in the valley and visit the ruined fortress of Ollantaytambo. Additional optional excursions include visits to Maras and Moray or the market and ruins at Pisac. (B)

Day 12: Machu Picchu

Board the train to Machu Picchu, take a tour of the Inca citadel and stay overnight. (B)

Days 13-14: Cuzco

Return to Cuzco and stay 2 nights. Explore the city’s cobbled streets and museums. Optional excursions include a visit to the Sacsayhuáman ruins. (B)

Days 15-16: Fly home via Lima

Fly to London via Lima with British Airways arriving the next day. (B) (N)
