Refugio Amazonas is on the edge of the Tambopata National Reserve, 4 hours by road and boat from Puerto Maldonado airport. The rustic and comfortable rooms are each designed with an open side, which acts as a large window and keeps rooms well ventilated.
The lodge has limited electricity, available three times a day in rooms and common areas (6am-8am; midday-2pm; 5pm-10pm). A generator is turned on once a day to recharge batteries for guests and lodge facilities. The camp is powered by solar energy and Wi-Fi is available in the evenings. It is recommended to bring a torch.
