Discover the highlights of Suriname, French Guiana & Guyana. Visit multicultural Paramaribo, remote Maroon rainforest villages and former sugar plantations in Suriname. In French Guiana, see the Space Centre at Kourou, the Iles de Salut prison islands and sleepy Cayenne. In Guyana, explore colonial Georgetown and take a flight over the mighty Kaieteur Falls. Then discover the abundant wildlife of the interior rainforest and savannahs, meet local Amerindian communities and stay at remote ecolodges. Travel by road to the border with French Guiana. Take a boat across the Maroni river and continue by road to Kourou. Take a guided visit of the Guiana Space Centre. Overnight stay at the ocean front Hotel des Roches. (B, L)
Catamaran trip to the Iles du Salut; visit Ile Saint Joseph and Ile Royal to explore the atmospheric and overgrown ruined buildings of this historic French penal colony. Take in views of Devils Island (inaccessible to visitors due to its dangerous coastline), made famous in the novel Papillon by Henri Charriere. Return to Kourou and transfer to Cayenne. Stay overnight at the Central Hotel Cayenne. Time at leisure to explore. (B, L)
Travel to St Laurent du Maroni and visit the well-preserved ruins of the Transportation Centre, which processed newly arrived convicts destined for the various penal colonies in French Guiana. Cross back into Suriname and drive to Paramaribo, then fly to Georgetown in Guyana. Stay 3 nights at the Grand Coastal Hotel. (B)
Morning exploration of one of Georgetown's markets with a chef to learn about the tropical produce and products on sale, followed by a city tour. Take lunch at the Backyard Café. Afternoon sunset cruise on the Demerara river. (B, L)
Optional early morning birding tour in the Botanical Gardens. Take a half-day trip by light aircraft to the magnificent Kaieteur Falls. (B)
Early morning flight to the rainforests of the Iwokrama Reserve. Take a birdwatching boat trip and hike the trails to Turtle Mountain. Afternoon 4x4 transfer through the reserve to the Iwokrama Canopy Walkway, watching out for elusive jaguars en route. Overnight stay at Atta Rainforest Lodge. (B, L, D)
Early morning wildlife walk, then depart by 4x4 through the rainforest to search for the Guiana cock of the rock. Continue to the Amerindian community of Surama. Stay for 2 nights at the Surama Eco-Lodge. While here, visit the village and take wildlife-spotting walks and hikes on trails through the savannah, rainforest and up Surama Mountain. Also take a canoe trip along the Burro Burro river to search for giant otters, tapir and monkeys. (B, L, D)

This tour is better suited to the hardier traveller as it includes some long drives along unpaved roads, visits remote locations, and stays in a mix of simple jungle lodges and some 3- and 4-star hotels.
This tour is not exclusive to Cox & Kings clients and is based on small group departures on set dates on a shared basis using local guides at each location.
