Our holidays to Latin America feature a number of world-class airlines and on these pages we have highlighted seven of the best and the different services they offer.

Stretch out: On long-haul flights, a little extra room can make a big difference to your comfort,

British Airways

British Airways flies from London Heathrow non-stop to Mexico City, Cancun, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. You can check in at the check-in kiosk at the airport, or alternatively online or by using the British Airways app, printing or downloading your boarding pass and taking your baggage directly to the Bag Drop desk.

World Traveller benefits: A 79cm (31in) seat pitch with lumbar support, footrest and adjustable headrest; 23cm (8.9in) personal television screen with audio video on demand, offering access to 200 film, television and music channels; and three-course meals with complimentary bar service.

World Traveller Plus: A smaller cabin for more privacy; a 97cm (38in) seat pitch; wider seat with adjustable headrest, leg rest, footrest and lumbar support, offering more personal space than World Traveller; 27cm (10.6in) personal in-flight entertainment screen; and enhanced choice of meals served on china crockery with complimentary bar service.

Iberia

The Iberia Group flies from London Heathrow, Edinburgh and Manchester*, via Madrid, to 19 destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean. Other regional connections are available to London Heathrow. Iberia flights can be combined with British Airways flights. *Flights to Manchester will be launched in September 2015.

Economy Class benefits: Up to 81cm (32in) seat pitch; choice of two meals and complimentary bar service on transatlantic flights; seats on long-haul flights are equipped with individual touch screen with access to the same entertainment programme as in Business Class; Wi-Fi and GSM text available; for flights from the UK to Madrid, meals and bar service are payable.

Virgin Atlantic

Virgin Atlantic operates non-stop flights twice a week from Gatwick to Havana.

Economy Class benefits: 79cm (31in) seat pitch with lumbar support and adjustable headrests; personal television screens with more than 300 hours of entertainment; choice of three meals and complimentary drinks.

Premium Economy benefits: Separate check in and a dedicated cabin; leather seat with a width of 53cm (21in) and 97cm (38in) seat pitch; adjustable headrest and footrest; personal television screens; and upgraded meals and complimentary drinks.

Upper Class benefits: Separate check in, access to the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse; fully flat beds that are 56cm (22in) wide and more than 198cm (6ft 6in) long; and on flights from Heathrow, the Graze Menu allows you to dine when you wish. In addition, features include an onboard bar and a personal 26cm (10in) widescreen television.

Avianca Airlines

Avianca offers a daily non-stop flight from London Heathrow to Bogotá with connections through their hub in Bogotá to 23 cities within Colombia and to more than 100 destinations in the Americas. The route, currently operated by the Airbus A330, will be progressively replaced by the Boeing 787 Dreamliner in 2016. Avianca is a Star Alliance member.

Economy Class benefits: Up to 86cm (34in) seat pitch with adjustable headrest; personal television screens, with audio video on demand; complimentary meals and drinks.

United Airlines

United Airlines flies from the UK non-stop to New York, Washington, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco and Los Angeles. From these US gateways, there are flights to more than 50 destinations in Central and South America.

United Economy Benefits: Enjoy ergonomically designed seats with up to 81cm (32in) of legroom; seatback screens offering a wide choice of on-demand entertainment; and a complimentary three-course meal service with beer, wine and soft drinks on transatlantic flights.

KLM offers departures from 17 UK airports to Amsterdam. There are onward connections to Bogotá, Cali, Lima, Quito, Guayaquil, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Santiago, Mexico City and Panama. KLM flights can be combined with Air France flights.
