Sacha Lodge is located in Ecuador's Amazon region, within a 5,000-acre private ecological reserve, an accessible yet pristine rainforest sanctuary. Designed to offer comfort whilst preserving the environment, the lodge offers 26 rustic, wooden cabins which are raised above the ground and feature high thatched roofs, insect screens, private bathrooms with flush toilet and hot showers, and private shaded terraces with hammocks. Constructed with traditional materials, they are well concealed in the lush surroundings. Communal areas of the lodge include a restaurant and bar. There is a large thatched lounge with open sides that overlooks the black waters of the Pilchicocha lake, and that is linked to a large floating plunge pool with netted sides, a perfect spot for cooling off. Activities include boat trips, visits to local communities and natures walks, where groups are kept small (6 to 8 people) and follow several well-dispersed trails where very few guests pass each week. The lodge also boasts a 275-metre-long canopy walkway at approximately 30 metres above the ground, a kapok observation tower, a parrot clay-lick and one of the largest butterfly farms in Ecuador. Rubber boots and rain ponchos are available, free of charge.
Features: 26 cabins, restaurant, bar, boutique, plunge pool, Wi-Fi in public areas (for additional cost).
Room amenities: Ceiling fans, 24-hour electricity, reading lights, safe, complimentary toiletries.
