La Selva Amazon Ecolodge is located on the shores of Lake Garzacocha and offers some of the most comfortable accommodation in the Ecuadorian Amazon. The lodge works closely with the local community of Pilchi and offers both training and work to the young men and women.
At the lodge guests can enjoy birdwatching (there are more than 500 species of birds here) as well as other wildlife spotting opportunities, including the chance to see caimans and several monkey species. The lodge features a butterfly farm and a 40-metre observation tower, and is the closest property to the Napo Parrot Salt Lick and not far from the Yasuni National Park. The 19 airy thatched suites (rustic bungalows) are built from natural materials and feature rustic yet very comfortable accommodation with ceiling fans, private bathrooms with hot water, mosquito netting and private balconies. Some suites offer views over the lake. There is a dining room serving delicious regional cuisine and a spa, while the open-air bar and lounge area offers panoramic views of the lake.
The journey to the lodge is part of the experience. From Coca, board a motorised canoe for a 2.5-hour trip down the Napo river to the lodge’s main dock. On arrival take a short walk with your day-pack (your main luggage will be transported by the lodge staff) to Lake Garzacocha, where you will board a paddle canoe to cross the lake and reach the lodge.
