Kapawi Ecolodge and Reserve is an award-winning lodge situated in the remote southern part of the Ecuadorian Amazon, in an area untouched by logging, mining or petroleum extraction, and is only accessed by air. The lodge is run by the Achuar indigenous community and operates an environmentally friendly policy. There are 19 comfortable rooms, with private bathrooms and sun-heated showers. Please note that a community fee of US$10 per person is payable on arrival. The reserve is one of the most pristine and isolated in the Amazon, and contains an amazing diversity of animals, plants and ecosystems. Activities are tailored to suit individual interests and abilities and include bird watching, nature walks, fishing, clay lick visits (where birds congregate to ingest the detoxifying minerals), and Achuar community trips.
