The Insolito Boutique Hotel is located on the edge of Ferradura beach, close to lively Buzios, which is 100km from Rio. In the Buzios peninsula there are 26 different beaches, regional and international restaurants, the famous boutiques on Rua das Pedras, lively nightlife and a golf course. It's clay roof and rustic wood architecture creates the charm of an old fishing village to compliment the colourful Brazilian beach vibe.
Once a private villa, surrounded by two Mediterranean gardens and sweeping vistas over the peninsula, it is staggered down a cliff edge so its 12 rooms and suites are spread over different levels. There are 3 categories of rooms from superior and deluxe to Insolito suites. The decor is very different in each one but the overall theme is calm with splashes of bright Brazilian colour in the striped rugs and floral cushions. They are comfortable and chic, with a king size bed, plasma TV, DVD player and WiFi Internet access. The attention to detail is wonderful and the private bathrooms are equally as stylish with rain-head showers. Some rooms have gardens views and some have sea views.
The restaurant is on the rooftop of the hotel, making the most of the views. Dinner is served alfresco dining on the outdoor deck but there is an indoor area should the weather turn bad. The food is a fusion of European and Brazilian cuisine and breakfast is a buffet of meats, cheeses, homemade bread, croissants and cakes. There is a spa offering wide variety of body and face treatments, as well as a steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi and two swimming pools.
