Patagonia: Calafate & El Chalten holidays

Patagonia encompasses endless wild and windswept expanses, towering mountains and giant glaciers that sweep down to turquoise lakes. Guanacos, condors and rheas can be spotted in this barren landscape, while blooming lenga forests and notro bushes add a splash of crimson in autumn. The Andes, forming the spine of this vast and desolate region, stretch to the southern tip of the continent and the archipelago of Tierra del Fuego.

Near El Calafate, the immense blue wall of the advancing Perito Moreno glacier provides an awe-inspiring spectacle of ever-changing shades and thunderous breaking ice. Hike the sculpted surface, take in astonishing views from panoramic walkways or sail in front of the towering wall. Full day and overnight boat trips past drifting icebergs can also be arranged to the breathtaking Upsala and Onelli glaciers. To the north and surrounded by glaciers, the striking granite massif of Mount Fitzroy rises near El Chaltén, providing excellent hiking opportunities in breathtakingly beautiful surroundings.
