The Punta Delgada Lighthouse, located on Peninsula Valdes, remains a working lighthouse warning passing ships of the treacherous sandbars in the area. The surrounding buildings, which were once used as a post office and quarters for the Argentinean Navy, have now been converted into a hotel with 27 rooms. The hotel has a restaurant which serves local dishes, such as Patagonian lamb, accompanied by a good variety of wines. There is also a pub-style bar. The hotel's surroundings are a delight to explore with the nearby beach a habitat for a colony of elephant seals and the surrounding countryside a habitat for a wide variety of animals including grey fox, guanaco, choique and armadillo.
