One of the more historic and culturally significant cities of the Deep South, Memphis had a prominent role in the American civil rights movement and is home to the National Civil Rights Museum. Most people associate Elvis Presley with the city and a visit to Graceland – the mansion where the legendary singer lived and died – is a must. Many other famous musicians got their start in Memphis. Wander Beale Street to experience some blues music yourself, or sample the barbecue food for which this area has become internationally renowned.
