Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Peabody Memphis is a 1920s landmark nicknamed ‘The South’s Grand Hotel’. The Italianate grandeur of its exterior is reflected throughout the interior. There is an ornate lobby with fountain centrepiece – famously frequented by ducks during an eccentric ceremony. There is also a high-ceilinged ballroom decorated with chandeliers and swirling stucco, and an indoor pool complete with voluted columns.
Rooms are elegant and traditional in décor, echoing the property’s 1920s heritage. Room amenities include air-conditioning, flat-screen cable televisions, Egyptian-cotton sheets, games consoles, and Wi-Fi (with surcharge). Further facilities at the Peabody Memphis include a fitness centre, spa, two restaurants, a rooftop bar, and a selection of shops.
Elvis’s former mansion, Graceland, is a 15-minute drive away, while Beale Street’s famous blues clubs are a stroll down the road.
