The Northwest Territories holidays
Located in the north of Canada, the Northwest Territories are five times the size of the United Kingdom yet are populated by less than 50,000 people. The area is mostly filled with boreal forest (taiga), although portions of the territory lie north of the tree line. The province entered the Canadian Confederation in 1870 but the current borders were formed in 1999, when the territory was subdivided to create the neighbouring province of Nunavut.
