The Magdalen Islands (Îles de la Madeleine) encompass 12 islands that form a 65-km-long archipelago approximately a 3-hour flight from Quebec City in the Atlantic Ocean. During the summer, the many dunes form part of the landscape, along with 300km of beaches. In winter, for just two weeks in February, it is possible to see white-furred harp seal pups on the islands. At this time of year, freezing temperatures and snow create a magical atmosphere on the islands.
