Ottawa Canada’s capital city, Ottawa, is located in the province of Ontario, bordering with the French province of Quebec, resulting in both English and French being widely spoken throughout the city. The city’s most iconic landmark is Parliament Hill, home to a complex of copper topped towers which, during summer, has a colourful changing of the guard on the front lawn at 10am each day. Other sights include the National Gallery of Canada, home to the largest collection of Canadian and Inuit art in the world, and the Canadian Museum of History, documenting the history of Canada through a series of engaging exhibits.

Located on the banks of the Ottawa river, directly opposite Parliament Hill, the Canadian Musuem of History presents over 20,000 years of Canada's pre-history, history and culture. The museum consists of two main wings, surrounded by a series of plazas. There are three permanent exhibition galleries: the Grand Hall, the First Peoples Hall and the Canada Hall, with additional special exhibitions covering, for example, the 19th-century gold rush in British Columbia's Fraser Canyon, or the founding of Canada as a nation.
