Located just 2 hours’ drive from Vancouver, in the Coast Mountains of British Columbia, Whistler is a year-round mountain resort. Named after the hoary marmots that inhabit the area and make a whistling noise, the town is overlooked by two majestic mountains and features four championship golf courses, numerous restaurants and bars, pampering spas and was the setting for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Sample Whistler's cuisine with a walking tour to visit four of the town's award-winning establishments, with an accompanying guide who will take you from place to place. In each location try a different course, and visit an impressive 15,000-bottle wine cellar to learn how to saber (chop open) champagne. Dishes that you might try include Cajun-crusted blackened Ahi tuna, teriyaki-glazed beef tenderloin, wild sockeye salmon fillet with an orange Dijon glaze, and artisan cheese with local craft jelly.
Spanning the distance between Whistler and the Blackcomb Mountains, the Peak to Peak Gondola is a 4.4 km journey with panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. This is the longest and highest lift in the world, providing views across volcanic peaks and coastal rainforest. Once at the top there are restaurants, interpretive displays and a range of scenic trails to explore.
Travel along the calm crystal-clear waters of the River of Golden Dreams from Alta Lake to Green Lake. Pass lush, old growth forest and wildflower-lined banks, as well as stunning snow-capped mountain vistas. Experienced guides provide paddling tips while sharing their knowledge of Whistler's fascinating history, geography and wildlife. Bears are regularly seen on this short waterway, as are beavers, otters, eagles, osprey, bats, mink and raccoons, as well as other wildlife. There is the option to do a twilight canoe trip, when the wildlife is more likely to be active.
