Prince Edward Island, or the ‘Garden of the Gulf’, consists of the main island along with over 200 minor islands. The capital, Charlottetown, is where the nation of Canada was born during the Charlottetown Conference in 1864. The island offers pastoral scenery, coastal drives and beaches. Many who visit will be overwhelmed by the charm and relaxed nature of its inhabitants. The island is also famous for its depiction in the novel Anne of Green Gables, published in 1908. There are direct flights to Prince Edward Island from Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa or Toronto.
