Lake Louise, or ‘the Jewel of the Rockies’, was named after the fourth daughter of Queen Victoria and was originally a stop along the Canadian Pacific Railway. Today, this emerald-green lake is known for its sheer beauty, with tourists coming to view the sparkling waters and backdrop of Victoria glacier. Lesser-visited Moraine Lake is approximately half the size of Lake Louise, but arguably more scenic than its celebrated neighbour. The indigo-blue waters are surrounded by the Valley of the Ten Peaks, all located in Banff National Park.
