This 11-day itinerary combines visits to the relics of some of the world’s greatest civilisations, as well as active adventure in the mountains, desert and along the coastline. Starting in the capital, Amman, travel to the picturesque region of Al Salt before visiting the ‘lost city’ of Petra, undoubtedly one of the Middle East’s most impressive sights. Continue to the desert landscapes of Wadi Rum before finishing with relaxation and spa treatments in the mineral-rich waters of the Dead Sea.

Superior Private Tour in brief

Day 1: Fly to Amman

Fly to Amman and transfer to the Boulevard Arjaan by Rotana for 2 nights. (N)

Day 2: Amman

Morning walking tour of Jordan’s capital. Afternoon at leisure. This evening, dine with a Jordanian family to soak up the local flavours. (B, D)

Day 3: Jerash • Salt

Visit the Roman ruins at Jerash. Drive to Salt, a town set on a hilly plateau, and overnight at Mountain Breeze Resort, a mountain retreat offering a range of activities, from archery to hiking and cycling. (B)

Day 4: Madaba • Mount Nebo • Petra

Morning at leisure. This afternoon visit Madaba and its renowned Byzantine mosaic map of the region. Continue to Mount Nebo, from where Moses first viewed the Holy Land, en route to Petra. Stay 2 nights at the Mövenpick Resort Petra. (B)

Day 5: Petra

Full-day tour of the ‘lost city of Petra’, which featured in the film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. (B)

Day 6: Wadi Rum

Morning at leisure. Drive to Wadi Rum for a 2-hour 4×4 jeep ride through the desert. Optional camel trek across the sands. Enjoy a night under canvas at the Sun City Camp. (B, D)

Day 7: Aqaba

Morning transfer to Aqaba and stay 2 nights at the Mövenpick Resort & Spa Tala Bay. (B)

Day 8: Aqaba

Day at leisure to relax on the hotel’s private beach or try some of the activities on offer. (B)

Days 9-10: The Dead Sea

Transfer to the Dead Sea and stay 2 nights at the Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea where you can float in the mineral-rich waters of the Dead Sea. (B)

Day 11: Fly home

Transfer to Amman airport and fly home. (B)
