Day 3 Caesarea • Haifa • Acre • Sea of GalileeVisit the ruined city of ancient Caesarea and stop for panoramic views over the Baha’i shrine and gardens in Haifa. See the wellpreserved old city walls at Acre, a Unesco world heritage site with superb Crusader remains. Stay 2 nights at the Nof Ginosar Kibbutz Hotel, located on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Take a guided walking tour of the kibbutz and gain a fascinating insight into this type of collective community. (B, D)
Day 4: Sea of GalileeThere will be the opportunity to visit several biblical sites today such as the Mount of Beatitudes, believed to be where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount, the Church of the Multiplication at Tabgha and the town of Capernaum, said to have been the scene of many of Jesus’s miracles. A light lunch and Galilean cooking workshop will be taken with a local family. (B, D)
Day 5: Sea of Galilee • Nazareth • JerusalemTake a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, where Jesus was said to have miraculously walked on water. Continue to Nazareth, Jesus’s hometown; walk in his footsteps as you visit the Church of the Annunciation, where Mary learned from the angel Gabriel that she was to have a child. Continue to Jerusalem via Cana, where Jesus performed his first miracle of turning water into wine. Stay at the Harmony Hotel in Jerusalem for 3 nights. (B)
Day 6: JerusalemMorning tour exploring the old city of Jerusalem; visit the Mount of Olives and the Garden of Gethsemane, named in the New Testament as the place where Jesus went with his disciples to pray the night before he was crucified. Visit the Western Wall and tunnels, and Cardo, the spectacular main street in the old city. Continue to the Tomb of King David then along the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Afternoon visit to Machane Yehuda market for a food tasting tour. (B)
Day 7: Jerusalem • BethlehemVisit the Israel Museum and then continue to Bethlehem via the Knesset Menorah and the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial. Visit the Church of the Nativity, one of the oldest churches in the world and the place where Jesus was said to have been born. (B)
Day 8: Qumran • Masada • Negev desertThis morning visit Qumran, one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the 20th century, where the Dead Sea scrolls were found. Travel through the desert to the Unesco world heritage site of Masada to see the mountain-top ruins. Continue to the Dead Sea and take a dip in the mineral-rich waters before travelling to the Beresheet Hotel for 2 nights, close to the Ramon Crater. (D)
Day 9: Negev desertVisit the visitor centre at the Ramon Crater (Makhtesh Ramon) before a 2-hour 4×4 ride in the crater itself. Makhtesh Ramon is shaped like a long heart and is the largest national park in Israel. Afternoon at leisure. (D)
Day 10: Beit Guvrin • Tel AvivDrive north and visit Beit Guvrin, a Unesco world heritage site and national park; enter the caves and join in with an archaeological dig. Continue to Tel Aviv and stay overnight at the Market House hotel in Jaffa for 1 night. (B)
Day 11: Fly homeTransfer to Ben Gurion airport and fly home. (B)
