One and a half hours by road from Marrakech, the mountain retreat of Kasbah due Toubkal offers incredible views of the High Atlas mountains and the summit of Jebel Toubkal. The Kasbah is some 20 minutes from the village of Imlil, and the final part of your journey must be made on foot through walnut groves. The Kasbah was built in the 1940s and all renovations were done carefully by hand. The Kasbah is run on ecological principles and encourages responsible tourism that respects local cultures and habitats.
Guests are met by some of the charming locals who have invaluable knowledge of the region. The en suite rooms and suites are rustically luxurious, all have been indivdually decorated and traditionally designed using natural materials and locally handcrafted furniture. Modern conveniences such as a cd player and tea and coffee making facilities are available in each room and of course many feature fabulous views.
The three Berber salons accommodate visitors in a simpler style as they are based on local custom. The downstairs area is set out like a traditional room, serving as a seating area during the day with couches to be slept on at night. In the sleeping galleries upstairs mattresses have been provided for your comfort and, for the more adventerous, carpets are set out on the roof terrace for those wanting to sleep under the stars.
The candle-lit dining room serves delicious, traditional food, freshly prepared to order in the kitchens, where guests are welcome to learn about the local cuisine. Mule trekking, walking and exploring local villages are the most popular pastimes here, however, for those seeking relaxation there are also two traditional hammans where you can soak and steam yourself and unwind whilst marvelling at the stunning views.
