The Sanctuary Lodge is situated on a promontory overlooking the Modi river at an altitude of 1,100m (3,600ft). It is 30 minutes easy walking from the scenic village of Birethanti, which straddles the ancient trading route to and from Tibet. The lodge has 800m (2,625ft) of river frontage and dramatic views of the magnificent, sacred and unclimbed 6,995-metre (23,000ft) Fishtail mountain, or Machhapuchhre. The lodge has been hand-built by local craftsmen to a traditional Nepalese design. Accommodation consists of 10 spacious, comfortably furnished twin bedrooms, each with a private en suite bathroom featuring flush toilets, solar-powered hot and cold running water and a generator for electricity. The gardens are beautifully landscaped and display much of the local flora and fauna. Features: 10 rooms, garden, library, dining room. Room amenities: Ceiling fan, extra blankets, desk.
