Kalimpong is a delightful small town, clinging to the mountainside in the far northern areas of West Bengal at an altitude of 1250 metres. It is a market town, and was formerly a major trading post and part of the lands belonging to the rajas of Sikkim. Kalimpong is now famous for its nurseries that export orchids, cacti, amaryllises, roses, gerbera, dahlias and gladioli all over the world.
