Morning arrival and check in to the Grand Dragon / Chamba Camp Thiksey* for a 4-night stay. Remainder of day at leisure. (B, L, D)

DAY 5: Leh

Morning tour of the old city including a visit to the 17th-century palace and LAMO Centre, the home of the Ladakh Arts & Media Organisation. Lunch will be served at a local house to experience The Artisanal Alchemy Ladakhi Lunch Experience.  After lunch, continue the tour of the old city, before enjoying spectacular sunset views from Shanti Stupa. (B, L, D)

Early morning visit to Thiksey monastery for a guided tour with the option to join in with morning prayers. After breakfast, a guided cycle tour will take you to Hemis Monastery, through the Pashmina farm and Chushot village. In the afternoon visit Shey Monastery, noted for its giant copper and gilded gold statue of a seated Shakyamuni Buddha, said to be the second largest statue in Leh. (B, L, D)

Visit Alchi, renowned as the oldest Buddhist learning centre in Ladakh with foundations laid in the middle of the 12th century. (B, L, D)

DAY 8: Fly to Delhi

Transfer to Leh airport and fly to Delhi. Transfer to the Oberoi Maidens / The Imperial* for 1 night. Afternoon tour of Old Delhi. (B)

DAY 9: Fly home / Nubra Valley extension

Cross over into the Nubra valley, which sits on the famous trading route, the Karakoram Highway.

Drive to Nubra valley via the scenic Warila Pass, with views of the Karakoram Ranges towards the North, as well as the Ladakh and Zanskar ranges towards the south. Stay 2 nights at The Sumoor Kyagar Resort (B, L, D). 

DAY 12: Nubra valley

Visit Esna Monastery, before continuing on towards Sumoor village, Yarabtso Lake and Samstanling monastery. Enjoy lunch at Kalon Farmhouse, where lunch will be served amongst the alfalfa and apricot trees. Optional visit to the village market in Deskit. (B, L, D)

Return to Leh, travelling across the Khardong La pass, the highest motorable road in the world. Remainder of day at leisure.  Overnight stay at The Grand Dragon (B, L, D)
