Home to palaces, forts and baolis (step-wells), this rustic town is a hidden gem. The imposing Taragarh Fort is situated on a steep hill above the town and has superb panoramic views of the blue houses below. Set next to the fort is Bundi Palace, renowned for its traditional murals, which offer a glimpse of the splendour and lifestyle of the rulers of Bundi. The town also has a number of impressive step-wells, including the Raniji-ki-Baoli, which features superb carvings. Bundi’s most famous resident, Kipling, wrote part of Kim when he stayed at the Suhk Mahal on the edge of Jait Sagar.
