Originally the home of a village chieftain, Pahuna Haveli, the ancestral home of Mrs Kumari was built at the turn of the 20th century using Vastu (ancient science of architecture) principles. With an extravagant facade, reminiscent of the distinguished Mewar architecture, and surrounded by lush green garden, Pahuna Haveli does look like a small hotel from the outside. The hosts have carefully thrown open only six rooms for guests, which mean the comforts of guests' and the attention to detail, remain at the heart of this exceptionally managed homestay. The six suites are spacious, elegantly furnished and individually decorated with traditional paintings including a few that happen to be the work of Mrs Kumari, the hostess. Guests have a choice of either local or continental food prepared in-house using home-made recipes.
