Day 3: Alsisar

Drive to the Shekhawati region, known as the open-air art gallery of Rajasthan. Spend 1 night in the grand Alsisar Mahal. Explore the medieval havelis and stepwells on a heritage walk. (B)

Day 4: Gajner

Travel to Gajner for a 2-night stay in the lakeside Gajner Palace. Afternoon at leisure before an evening folk and tribal dance. (B)

Take a tour of Junagarh fort and the local bazaar famed for its Kundan jewellery, durries and handicrafts. (B)

    The Gateway Hotel Ramgarh Lodge, Jaipur

    Built in the late 1930s, The Gateway Hotel Ramgarh Lodge Jaipur (previously Ramgarh Lodge) was once the favourite hunting retreat of the Maharaja of Jaipur. Located around 40 km from Jaipur, this rustic lodge set in the forested Aravalli exudes an air of history. The lodge was converted into a hotel in the late 1980s and is now managed by the Taj group of hotels. All 13 rooms and suites are spacious, comfortably furnished, combine history with contemporary style and overlook either the rugged Aravalli Mountains or the landscaped gardens. Other facilities include a dining room with a colonial atmosphere, outdoor swimming pool and tennis court.

    Shahpura Bagh

    Once the summer residence of the rulers of Shahpura, Shahpura Bagh is comprised of two residences. Set among 45 acres of garden and surrounded by lakes, the estate is located in an unspoilt part of Rajasthan, between Jaipur and Udaipur. The main house (Nahar Niwas) is where the Shahpura family reside and where meals are served; alternatively a private dining option is available. Umaid Niwas, the restored guest house, is where the rooms are located. Originally built to house visiting nobility, the rooms in the guest house are light and airy, with high ceilings and large windows. The rooms vary in size and shape, but they are all elegantly furnished and equipped with modern amenities such as electronic safes and air-conditioning. Excursions trace the history of the region through neighbouring forts and legends.

The rooms combine modern amenities with original features, which include stain-glass windows, stone archways and wooden furniture.
