Superior Private Tour in brief

Days 1-2: Fly to Delhi

Fly to Delhi. Arrive the following day and transfer to the historic Maidens Hotel (Deluxe Suite) for 2 nights. Late afternoon tour of old Delhi including a visit to Chandi Chowk bazaar by rickshaw. (N)

Day 3: Delhi

Witness the changing of the guard ceremony at the Presidents Palace, then take a walk at India Gate, built in memory of the Indian soldiers who fought in the first world war. Continue to Qutb Minar to marvel at the 13thcentury obelisk. This evening, prepare some local dishes at a cookery class in an Indian home. Eat what you prepare while enjoying an evening of stories and traditions. (B, D)

Day 4: Agra

Take a 2-hour train ride from Delhi to Agra. Transfer to the Trident Agra for 2 nights (interconnecting Deluxe Rooms). Afternoon at leisure. Evening Kalakriti dance performance. (B)

Day 5: Agra

Rise early to see the sun rise over the Taj Mahal. Visit Agra Fort and a wildlife sanctuary that cares for rescued dancing bears and elephants. This evening, sample savoury snacks on a ‘chaat crawl’ around Agra’s best street food stalls. (B)

Day 6: Ranthambore National Park

Drive to Bharatpur (1.5 hours) and take a rickshaw ride around the Keoladeo Bird Sanctuary. Travel by train to Sawai Madhopur and transfer (30 minutes) to Sawai Vilas for 2 nights. Explore Ranthambore Fort with its resident monkeys and breathtaking views. (B, D)

Day 7: Ranthambore National Park

Seek out tigers, sloth bears and monkeys on a 4×4 safari. Other wildlife to look out for includes sambars, panthers and marsh crocodiles. Afternoon at leisure or visit a local village and school to learn about rural life. (B, L, D)

Day 8: Jaipur

Drive to Jaipur and visit the Dera Amer elephant camp. Feed and walk with the elephants before enjoying dinner at the camp. Transfer to Trident Jaipur for 2 nights (Deluxe Room). (B, D)

Day 9: Jaipur

Explore the ‘Pink City’ including Amber Fort, City Palace and the Jantar Mantar astronomical observatory. (B)

Day 10: Deogarh

Optional early morning balloon ride over rural Jaipur. Travel by road to Deogarh for a 2-night stay in the idyllic, family run Dev Shree. (B)

Day 11: Deogarh

Take a scenic 1.5-hour train ride on a metregauge railway, mixing with the local villagers who join the train as it traverses the Aravalli hills. Or take a tour of the local village, trying you hand at a potter’s wheel and watching local artisans at work. (B)

Day 12: Udaipur

Travel to Udaipur, visiting Kumbhalgarh Fort en route. Stay 3 nights at Fateh Garh. (B)

Day 13: Udaipur

Spend a leisurely day visiting the City Palace, Hathi Pol bazaar and the lakeside setting of Udaipur. Late afternoon boat ride on Lake Pichola to explore the island palace, Jag Mandir. (B)

Day 14: Udaipur

Take a bike ride through the local villages surrounding your hotel. Afternoon at leisure followed by an evening stargazing session. (B)

Day 15: Delhi

Fly to Delhi for an overnight stay at Pride Plaza (B)

Day 16: Fly home
