This exciting journey features a 10-night cruise that starts from Dibrugarh and sails downstream along the Brahmaputra. Along the way, the river cruise offers visitors to the region the opportunity to discover the ancient capital of the Ahom Kings; visit Hindu monasteries on one of the largest riverine islands; and take a 4x4 safari in search of the endangered one-horned rhinoceroses. The voyage comes to an end at Guwahati; a town renowned for its 'tantric' traditions.

Morning arrival and transfer to the Oberoi Grand for 2 nights. Afternoon city tour. (N)
Morning visit to the flower market and cruise down the Hooghly river. Afternoon visit to the Marble Palace and South Park Cemetery. (B)
Fly to Dibrugarh and transfer to Dikhou Mukh to board the boat (subject to river conditions, it may be required to board the boat at Neamati, which is closer to Jorhat). The next 10 nights will be spent on either RV Sukhapa or RV Charaidew. Morning visit to Sibsagar, the one-time capital of the Kings of Assam, who ruled Assam for nearly 700 years between the 12th century and early 19th century. The Ahoms' distinct culture and architecture delightfully blends Indian with south-east Asian and some of this distinct style can be seen in the stupa-like temples and palaces. Following lunch in a tea estate, return to the boat and cruise for 3 hours to Majuli, the largest riverine island. (B, L, D)
This morning on arrival at Majuli island, explore the largest riverine island in the world. The island is home to some unique Vaishnavite Satras (monasteries) that are renowned for their dance drama performances. You will visit the Auniati monastery with an eclectic museum and watch a dance performance at the Kamalabari monastery before returning to the boat. Late afternoon cruise downstream for an hour or two. (B, L, D)
Continue cruising and take a visit to a riverside tribal village. By the afternoon, the Kaziranga National Park will be on your left and you might be able to spot wild elephants from your boat. (B, L, D)
Morning visit the temple town of Vishnath. Returning to the boat, continue cruising downstream. In the afternoon take a 4x4 safari through the western range of the Kaziranga National Park. (B, L, D)
Early morning elephant-back safari through Kaziranga's central range looking for one-horned rhinoceroses. After breakfast, walk through terraced tea gardens and visit a village of the Mising tribe. In the afternoon, take a 44x4 safari through Kaziranga's little visited eastern range. (B, L, D)
This morning continue cruising downstream to Tezpur. Following lunch, visit the ruins of the sixth century Da Parbatia temple, which has exquisite carvings. Take a cycle rickshaw to explore the local bazaars and continue to Cole Park to see the collection of medieval stone carving. (B, L, D)
Today is spent cruising, passing through sand islands with dramatic lunar landscapes. (B, L, D)
This morning, continue cruising downstream towards Guwahati. This afternoon, visit the Aswaklanta temple on the hill before visiting the ruins of the Madan Kamdev temple with their erotic carving reminding visitors of the strong tantric traditions for which the region is renowned. (B, L, D)
Arrive in Sualkuchi and visit the silk weavers. You will have the opportunity to see the entire process of silk manufacture and how exquisite sarees are crafted. This afternoon, visit the Kamakhya temple in Guwahati, the Commonwealth War Graves, the museum and the bazaars. (B, L, D)
Transfer to the airport and fly to Kolkata. Transfer to the Oberoi Grand for 2 nights. (B)
