Central India is home to many historical and natural wonders that are well off the main tourist routes. Ancient wonders include the intricately carved Khajuraho Temple (Chandela dynasty temples at Khajuraho), the impressive fort city of Gwalior, and the relaxed village of Orchha, with its array of well-preserved temples and palaces. Further south, Kanha, Bandhavgarh and Pench National Parks offer some of the best opportunities for wildlife viewing in India, including tigers, as well as beautiful meadows, lakes and forests.
