Located 20 km from Kodaikanal, Elephant Valley is the last settlement on the border of the national forest which extends into wildlife sanctuaries of Kerala. It is situated on a centuries old elephant migration route. Elephant Valley is a simple property built according to the owners commitment of reducing the impact of travel on the local environment, with emphasis on soul rather than luxury. The property consists of a number of cottages and tents. Each cottage is equipped with solar lights, kerosene lanterns, western style dry/compost toilets and firewood fuelled hot water showers. These cottages have been tastefully created with local granite and reclaimed Burma teak. Each cottage has the privacy of its own garden overlooking the perennial Gangavaar River and the coffee plantation. Tent houses with attached bathrooms offer homely comfort in the midst of the wilderness, whilst for the adventurous guest there is a tree house located on the forest edge.
