Aman-I-Khas, (combining aman, meaning "peace", in Sanskrit, and khás, meaning "special" in Urdu and Hindi) is an exclusive wilderness camp set in the rugged hills of Rajasthan on the outskirts of Ranthambhore National Park. It is a drive of approximately 3 ½ hours from Jaipur and 7 hours from Delhi to reach this part Mughal, part colonial jungle camp.
The camp has 10 spacious luxury tents, which have been decorated in a Mughal style and split into sleeping, bathing and dressing sections. The sleeping area is fitted with a king size bed and writing desk, whilst the bathing area consists of a bathtub, separate toilet and shower cubicle. The tents are air-conditioned during the summer months and heated during the winter.
The dining tent serves Indian and Western cuisine and is often concluded around the outdoor fireplace which overlooks the Aravalli Hills. The lounge tent provides a wide selection of books on the area and its wildlife, as well as other aspects of Indian culture and history. Novels, magazines, CD's and board games are also available. The spa tent has two separate massage areas and the step-well is available for refreshing dips after a day spent searching for Tiger. The camp operates from October until the end of June - the best period for wildlife spotting.
