The best time to go to Bhutan is generally from October to mid-December, and February to April when the weather is sunny and warm. Bhutan’s colourful festivals are often held during these months, and are rightly popular with travellers.
However, Bhutan’s climate varies between mountainous and lowland regions. In the high mountains there is snow and ice throughout the year, while a tropical climate prevails in the foothills. The monsoon rains arrive in June and last until September, bringing muggy, cloudy weather. Winters can be very cold but will often still be sunny and bright during the day.
