Day 1: Fly to Delhi

Fly from London (regional connections available) to Delhi with British Airways overnight. (N)

Day 2: Delhi

Arrive and transfer to the Radisson Blu Pashim Vihar for 2 nights. (N)

Day 3: Delhi

Take a guided tour of Old and New Delhi, including a drive past the Red Fort, a visit to Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in Asia, a walk through Chandhi Chowk and Raj Ghat, the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. Later, drive past the imposing India Gate (War Memorial Arch), Parliament buildings and Rashtrapati Bhavan (the president’s residence), and visit the 14th-century Agrasen ki Baoli. End the tour with a visit to Qutb Minar and the tomb of Emperor Humayun. (B)

Day 4: Shekhawati

Drive to the fabulous Shekhawati region, also known as the open-air art gallery of Rajasthan. Transfer to the Desert Resort in Mandawa for 1 night. Explore the beautiful havelis in this semi-desert region. (B)

Day 5: Bikaner

This morning, drive to Bikaner and transfer to the Narendra Bhawan for 1 night. In the afternoon, take a tour of Junagarh Fort, unusual for not being built on a hilltop. Later, take a walk around the local bazaar. (B)

Day 6: Jaisalmer

Drive to Jaisalmer and transfer to Gorbandh Palace (or similar) for 2 nights. (B)

Day 7: Jaisalmer

Explore Jaisalmer Fort, one of the largest in the world. Also visit Gadisagar Lake, a rainwater reservoir built in 1367, the Folklore Museum and the famous Nathwon and Patwon ki Haveli. Later in the afternoon, drive to the outskirts of Jaisalmer to view the sun setting against the sand dunes. (B)

Day 8: Jodhpur

Drive to the blue city of Jodhpur in the morning. Later in the afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of Jodhpur. Visit the formidable five-kilometre-long Mehrangarh Fort, set on a hill. Continue to Jaswant Thada, a white marble memorial to Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. Transfer to the Indana Palace for 2 nights. (B)

Day 9: Jodhpur

Day at leisure. Choose from a range of optional excursions including a jeep safari to the local Banni villages; a walking tour of the old city and markets; a visit to 12th-century Ahhichatragarh Fort in Naguar; or an exclusive evening tour of Mehrangarh Fort with the museum curator.* (B)

Day 10: Ranakpur - Udaipur

Drive to the romantic city of Udaipur this morning, visiting the beautiful Jain temples at Ranakpur en route. On arrival in Udaipur, check into the LaLit Laxmi Vilas Palace for a 2-night stay. (B)

Day 11: Udaipur

Take a city tour of Udaipur this morning, including a visit to the City Palace and the gardens of Saheliyon-ki-Bari. Walk through the old city and learn about the miniature art this region is known for. Afternoon at leisure. (B)

Day 12: Pushkar - Jaipur

Drive to the lakeside town of Pushkar to visit the sacred ghats. After lunch take the Shatabdi Express to Jaipur for 2-night stay at the LaLit Jaipur. (B)

Day 13: Jaipur

This morning, make a photo-stop at the Palace of the Winds, with its spectacular facade, before a tour of Amber Fort. Continue to the Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing before enjoying a traditional sweet tasting. Later, take a tour of the royal city of Jaipur; highlights include the City Palace Museum, the Jantar Mantar observatory and the colourful bazaars. (B)

Day 14: Fatehpur Sikri - Agra

Drive to Agra this morning, visiting Fatehpur Sikri, the beautiful deserted capital of Emperor Akbar en route. On arrival in Agra, check into the Taj Hotel & Convention Centre. Afternoon visit to the Taj Mahal. Farewell dinner at the Salt Cafe. (B, D)

Day 15: Delhi

Morning visit to Agra Fort, an outstanding example of Mughal architecture. Afternoon drive to Delhi. Overnight at the Novotel Aerocity. (B)

Day 16: Fly to London

Transfer to the airport for the British Airways flight to London. (B)

    Located on the outer ring road of west Delhi, close to many excellent restaurants and shops, the Radisson Blu Hotel New Delhi Paschim Vihar is a comfortable hotel with modern amenities. The rooms are designed in a neo-gothic style and blend beautiful design with comfortable furnishings. The rooftop restaurant offers views over the city and the two restaurants serve both Indian and international cuisine.

    Desert Resort Mandawa

    Situated just outside of Mandawa, the desert resort is comprised of a number of mud buildings - cottages and two storey buildings - constructed in a traditional tribal desert style. The exteriors are decorated with traditional lime paste, mandana, or rice flour patterns which are reworked daily by women from the village, while the interiors are decorated with mirror-work and glass beads. All rooms are air-conditioned and are ensuite. Facilities in the resort include a restaurant and a bar as well as a swimming pool, a health club and mini-golf.

    Narendra Bhawan

    A heritage property located in the desert town of Bikaner, the impressive Narendra Bhawan was home to the last reigning maharajah of Bikaner. Traditional Rajasthani decor can be found throughout the property, which continues in the guestrooms where elaborate ceilings, Bikaner terrazzo floors and traditional crafts can be found. The infinity swimming pool sits on the roof of the property, offering splendid views over the town. Mad Hatter - the Bake House produces traditional confectionary and baked goods whilst in the dining room you will be served dishes once favoured by royalty.
