Drive north from Hanoi to the world heritage site of Halong Bay. Here you will board the luxurious Au Co for a 2-night cruise aboard one of the finest ships on the bay. Your 2-night itinerary allows you to reach more remote areas of Halong Bay such as Ho Ba Ham lagoon and Cat Ba Island. (B, L, D)

Fly to Hue, the 19th-century Nguyen capital. Afternoon visit to the royal tombs of Tu Duc and Khai Dinh. A dinner reservation will be made at the Tha Om Garden House, a wonderfully atmospheric place to dine set in a beautiful garden with a lotus pond in the middle. Stay 2 nights at Azerai La Residence. Take an escorted ride through the streets of Hué for a view of the city from street level, visiting the Imperial City and the Purple Forbidden City enclosure inside. Drive to Danang and fly to Ho Chi Minh City. Take an afternoon tour of the city visiting the Reunification Palace, the Notre Dame Cathedral and the War Remnants Museum, which displays a number of exhibits relating to the war with the US and battles with occupying French forces.
