The Lanjia Lodge is an eco-friendly community venture, perched on a hill overlooking the Mekong river near the border with Laos. The hosts are mainly from the local Hmong and Lahu hill tribes, with profits from the lodge used to fund community projects that help the area's local villages and further promote low-impact tourism. Accommodation is in four separate lodges, each with four double rooms. Rooms are basic but comfortable, with reed and bamboo matting furnishings and a terracotta-tiled bathroom with a hot shower. Meals are prepared by the villagers in the lodge's kitchen and served on a covered veranda overlooking the Mekong river and valley below.
