Accommodation rating: Good Standard

Housed within two floors of the Walpole Building on Sukhumvit Road in central Bangkok, the Cabochon Hotel recaptures the Shanghai chic of the 1920's. Each suite or studio is carefully and elegantly appointed with vintage style beds and furniture, spacious bathroom with marble floors, vanity mirrors set in vintage wooden frames atop classical washbasins and other classic fittings. Double French doors lead out to balconies overlooking a courtyard framed by tall tropical palm trees. On the roof, there is a 22 metre swimming pool. The Thai Lao Yeh Restaurant serves authentic Thai cuisine, including lesser-known Chiang Mai, Isaan and Laotian dishes.
