Superior Private Tour in brief

Day 1: Fly to Hanoi

Days 2-3: Cruise in Halong Bay

Arrive into Hanoi then drive north to Halong City and board the RV Angkor Pandaw for 10 nights. Spend this afternoon and the next morning exploring Halong Bay, an area of more than 1,600 islands and celebrated for its scenery. (B, L, D)

Day 4: Cruise on the Bach Dang river

Sail out of Halong Bay, passing Cat Ba island. In the afternoon the ship will enter the Bach Dang river and continue sailing upriver. (B, L, D)

Day 5: Cruise on the Thai Binh river

Sail upriver to the village of Duc Tai for a walk around the village and to visit a local family that specialises in weaving. Continue cruising up the Thai Binh river to Thanh Ha commune for a water puppet show, then on to Ninh Giang. (B, L, D)

Days 6-7: Hanoi

Today cruise towards Hanoi, stopping en route for a walking tour in Ninh Giang commune to visit the local market and taste a homemade cake known as banh gai. Arrive the next morning in Hanoi for a tour of the city. (B, L, D)

Days 8-9: Cruise on the Red River

Leave Hanoi this morning and visit Bat Trang, a village that specialises in the production of ceramics, then continue along the Red River to Viet Tri, an excellent base for venturing into the highlands of Vietnam to discover small villages, Buddhist statues and temples. (B, L, D)

Days 10-11: Cruise on the Da river

Turn back towards the coast and sail downstream on the Da river to Hòa Bình province, home of the Muon people. Take a boat ride on Hòa Bình power station reservoir, visit a local village and watch a cultural performance. (B, L, D)

Day 12: Hòa Bình • Fly home

Disembark in Hòa Bình after breakfast and visit a museum and local village where villagers still wear traditional dress. Transfer to Hanoi international airport for an evening flight to the UK. (B)

Day 13: Arrive home
