Day 2: Kota KinabaluArrive and transfer to the Hyatt Regency for 4 nights. (N)
Day 3: Island visit & zip line experienceTake a short boat ride to the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, where you can take a ride on the Coral Flyer, the world’s longest island-to-island zip line at 250 metres long. In the afternoon, swim, snorkel or relax on the beach. (B, L)
Day 4: Kiulu river raftingTravel to the scenic Kiulu river for an exciting introduction to river rafting. (B, L)
Day 5: Cooking class in Kota KinabaluThis morning you will learn to cook some traditional dishes of Sabah, Borneo in a hands-on cooking class, preparing ingredients you have bought in a nearby market. (B, L)
Day 6: Fly to Sandakan • SepilokFly south to Sandakan to visit the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre and the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre. Afternoon cruise into the jungle down the Kinabatangan river to search for wildlife. Stay 1 night at the Abai Lodge. (B, L, D)
Day 7: River cruise to SukauMorning boat trip to Pitas lake to spot proboscis monkeys, pygmy elephants and birds. Visit a local village for lunch, then cruise up river to Sukau in search of wild orang utans. Overnight stay at the Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge. (B, L, D)
Days 8-9: Tabin Wildlife ReserveDrive east and stay 2 nights at the Tabin Wildlife Resort. Excursion at dusk to spot wildlife. The following day cycle to the Lipad ‘mud volcano’, which acts as a mineral salt lick for birds, elephants and Bornean bearded pigs. Afternoon walk along the river to spot Asian small-clawed otters. Days 10-11: Fly to Kota KinabaluFly to Kota Kinabalu and stay at the Hyatt Regency for 2 nights. The following day is at leisure. (B, L)

The Tabin Wildlife Resort is built along the Lipad river in the thick jungle of the Tabin Wildlife Reserve. Various birds and sometimes small mammals can be sighted quite easily within the resort. A small cafe serves simple western and local dishes. Facilities should be regarded as basic. In the evenings, presentations are sometimes held on Tabin's natural wonders. The Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge is situated 47km from the mouth of the Kinabatangan river in an area of rainforest home to many birds and monkeys. This eco-friendly resort utlilises solar panels for water heating and biodegradable toiletries to minimise its impact on the environment. The lodge's rooms are set in a number of stilited semi-detached bungalows throughout the jungle, connected to the main lodge by a series of walkways. Features: 33 rooms, restaurant/bar, air conditioned TV lounge, terrace. Room amenities: En suite bathroom with hot showers, ceiling fan.

Accommodation is basic with no air conditioning, but has clean and comfortable rooms. Features: 26 rooms, restaurant/bar, jungle board walks. Room amenities: Ceiling fan, safe.
