Built in the heart of the Gobi desert, the Three Camel Lodge combines adventure and sophistication, offering traditional hospitality and quality accommodation in a superb natural setting. Many staff members were raised in the Gobi, and all are happy to share their love and knowledge of their homeland. The Lodge's 20 de luxe gers have been handmade using a latticed wood structure covered with layers of felt and canvas, each heated by a wood stove and appointed with hand-painted wooden-framed beds and furnishings. Gers include a private bathroom with a toilet and sink, a king-size bed and amenities such as felt slippers, Mongolian-styled bathrobes and locally produced toiletries. Each has a southward-facing door, in the nomadic Mongolian tradition, providing an unobstructed view of the desert and the Gobi-Altai Mountains. The centrepiece of the Three Camel Lodge is Dino House, built in the architectural style of a traditional Mongolian temple, which encompasses a small library and a music and dance performance area. Meals are taken at the Bulagtai Restaurant, which uses locally grown organic fruits and vegetables, dairy products produced by local nomadic families and organic meat from Mongolia's free-range livestock herds to create regional dishes and traditional specialties. Further facilities include the Thirsty Camel Bar, gift shop, laundry service and a small spa staffed by professionally trained massage therapists.
