At an altitude of 1,500-1,800 metres, the Cameron Highlands are a relatively cool retreat from the humidity of the lowlands. A picturesque area of winding trails with mountain peaks, waterfalls and jungle, they were favoured by British settlers during the colonial era as a place to relax. The area includes many features of English country villages, and is known for its tea plantations. One of these, the Sungai Palas Tea Plantation, is the largest black tea manufacturer in Malaysia, and comprises large plantations along with a visitor centre, souvenir shop and cafe where you can enjoy the views and sample tea fresh from the source.
