Accommodation rating: Simple
Originally built and used as a ferry that carried teak wood between Vientiane and southern Lao, the Vat Phou boat was lovingly converted and restored into a comfortable floating hotel plying the Mekong river in 1993. There are 12 air-conditioned cabins with single berths and en suite shower room on two separate decks: 10 on the lower deck and two on the upper deck. There is a dining room, a bar and two large open-air shaded lounge areas. Included meals comprise set menus with Lao, Thai and Vietnamese dishes with tea, coffee and water freely available during the cruise. Beer, soft drinks, wines and spirits are available for purchase aboard the boat.
