These rather grand, historical buildings have hosted many illustrious guests, including Albert Einstein, Audrey Hepburn and the 14th Dalai Lama. As one of the first western-style hotels in Japan, facilities are not as modern as newer hotels, but it does offer character, hospitality, and a high standard of service. There are two restaurants, a Meiji period-style bar and a charming tea lounge which serves cakes prepared onsite by the hotel's pâtissier. The hotel wine cellar is stocked with over 4,000 bottles from around the world, including some of best up-and-coming wines from Japanese vineyards.
