Accommodation rating: Good Standard
The Ombak Putih vessel mixes traditional and contemporary styles, using a traditional hull Phinisi design and rigging with modern interiors and cabins. While Indonesian traditional sailing vessels are customarily referred to as Bugi Schooners, strictly speaking the Ombak Putih is rigged as a ketch, the foremast being higher than the aft mast. The main deck is dominated by the 25-metre mast and a large deck table, where dinners are sometimes held under the stars. Accommodation is in 12 cabins below deck, with twin, bunk or double beds, en suite bathrooms and air conditioning. There is also the option to sleep out on deck on mattresses. Meals are generally taken in the air-conditioned lounge, while large sun and semi-covered decks offer plenty of space to relax and enjoy the scenery during the day. In the evenings, the lounge bar has a television and music centre, and professional European cruise director is on hand for any questions on the boat, the itinerary or the surrounding area. When the boat is moored, there is the chance to explore the immediate area, using complimentary snorkeling equipment or sea kayaks.
