Fly to Shanghai

Shanghai
Arrive and transfer to the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund for a 2-night stay. The hotel boasts a prime location in the northern Bund area, along the Huangpu River. (N)
Shanghai
Morning visit to the Jade Buddha Temple and Yu Garden, a classical Chinese garden that offers a picturesque retreat from the city’s fast pace. Afternoon at leisure to stroll along the Bund or shop on Nanjing Road. (B)
Train to Huangshan
Take a high-speed train to Huangshan. Here, tour the ancient street of Tunxi, a historic area that captures the essence of traditional Chinese culture and architecture. Drive into Yixian County and stay at the Banyan Tree Huangshan for 2 nights, located at the foot of Mount Huangshan. (B)
Huangshan
Take the cable car up Mount Huangshan for some superb views of the surrounding countryside. Visit Lion Peak known for its uniquely shaped rock formations, Flower-Scattering Valley and the scenic viewpoint of Cloud-Dispelling Pavilion. (B, L)
Wuyuan
Visit the villages of Lucun and Hongcun, known for their beautiful wood carvings and well-preserved traditional buildings. Afterwards, drive south into Wuyuan County to the tiny village of Yan, a protected 900-year-old settlement. Stay here for 2 nights at the Skywells Wuyuan, a rare 300-year-old courtyard mansion that has been lovingly restored using traditional building techniques, retaining many original features. (B)

Explore the surrounding countryside via a number of walking trails with a guide. These trails wind through lush forests, charming villages, terraced fields, and serene valleys, offering a perfect blend of adventure and tranquility. (B, D)
Fly to Chengdu/Qing Cheng Mountain
Drive to Hangzhou Airport and fly to Chengdu. On arrival, you will be met and driven south of the city to the Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain for a 3-night stay. (B)

Today see pandas at the Dujiangyan Research Center of Giant Panda Breeding or visit the Dujiangyan Irrigation Project. (B)

Today is a day at leisure to continue exploring Qing Cheng Mountain. (B)
Xian & the Terracotta Warriors
Travel by high-speed train from Chengdu to Xian. This former Silk Road trading city retains some of its historic character, laid out in a grid pattern within huge perimeter walls. On arrival you will be met and transferred north of the city for a 2-night stay at the Angsana Xian Lintong, which lies in the shadow of Lishan Mountain, just 15 minutes from the legendary Terracotta Warriors. Spend the morning discovering this stunning archaeological site with an expert guide, followed by an afternoon at the Huaqing hot springs in the foothills of the Qin Mountains (B)

Continue east via high-speed train to Beijing, then transfer to the Waldorf Astoria Beijing for a 3-night stay. (B)

Morning guided visit to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, followed by a stroll through the historic Liulichang district and the hutongs (ancient narrow alleyways) nearby. (B, L)
Great Wall of China
Leave Beijing for a journey to the Great Wall at Huanghuacheng, a quiet section adjoining the peaceful Haoming Lake. Walking on the wall here is difficult, but a visit is rewarding as the scenery is particularly beautiful and the area little-visited. (B, L)

Transfer to the airport and fly home. (B)
