The Linden Centre is situated in the small village of Xizhou close to Dali and is in some ways considered a living museum. Set around four 150-year-old courtyards, the surrounding buildings are of traditional Bai-minority design, once belonging to the Yang family. Featuring 14 elegantly decorated rooms with modern comforts thatadhere to the properties original feng shui design principles, the centre also has two restaurants serving both international and more local traditional cuisine. Other hotel facilities include a movie room, a small gym, gallery, library, wireless internet access and terraced gardens with views of the surrounding mountains.
As an educational and cultural retreat, the Linden Centre offers various excursions and themed programmes to give guests a chance to explore Dali and the surrounding villages and learn about the local way of life. Examples include visiting local organic farmers and fishery owners, touring factories where families create indigenous textiles, exploring mountainside temple complexes at Weibao, and cycling the coast of Erhai Lake, traversing fishing villages and rice fields.
