Morning tour of Ho Chi Minh City, visiting the Reunification Palace, the Notre Dame cathedral and the War Remnants Museum, which displays a number of exhibits relating to the war with the US and battles with occupying French forces. Afternoon drive into the countryside to visit the Vietnam war-era Cu Chi tunnels. (B)
Drive out of the city to Vinh Long, then begin a short cycling tour through peaceful countryside passing local markets, schools and fields. Afterwards, board a small boat for a cruise through the delta towards Can Tho, passing riverside villages and plantations with a stop en route stop at a local workshop. Stay at the Victoria Can Tho Resort for 2 nights. (B, L)
Early morning boat trip to visit the lively market of Cai Rang, a busy floating market where vendors sell a variety of fruit and vegetables from small boats. Afterwards, continue cruising through small canals and stop at orchards and local workshops. (B)
Drive north to Chau Doc, with a stop en route at the Tra Su Bird Sanctuary, a vast wetland area that protects the breeding grounds of many species including kingfishers, cormorants, storks, egrets and herons. Stay at the Victoria Chau Doc Hotel for 1 night near the border with Cambodia. (B)
Take a boat cruise along the Mekong to Phnom Penh, Cambodia's lively capital on the banks of the river. Stay at La Rose Boutique Hotel & Spa for 2 nights. (B)
Morning visit to the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda and the National Museum. Afternoon tour to learn about Cambodia's recent Khmer Rouge history at the Tuol Sleng Museum of Genocide and the Choeung Ek Killing Fields. (B, L)
