Located in southern Rakhaing (Rakhine) State, approximately 7 km from Sandoway (Thandwe) Airport, Ngapali Beach is Burma’s most famous and developed beach resort. The beach is a 2-mile, palm-fringed white sand beach on the Bay of Bengal’s crystal clear water. Some say Ngapali was named by an Italian who was reminiscing about his Napoli home many years ago. Ngapali Beach still retains its fishing village roots and there a few charming villages as well as some offshore islands that that can be explored.
